If you ask any angler that “cut their teeth” in amateur level competition, they will quickly tell you that the path from apprentice, to journeyman, to “pro”, was not an easy one, and that success only came after a good measure of diligence, hard work, and time on the water was applied.

FPT alumni notables, such as Justin Lucas, Roy Desmangles, Shane Pierson, Austin Wilson, Cody Meyer, and Mark Daniels Jr - to name a few, that have since moved up to higher-level competition, will quickly tell you that a big part of their success was the fact that they took the time, put the work in, and took their “lumps”, on a stage that best emulated the pro-level environments they were hoping to become a part of.

FPT’s  “Rookie Teams” - A place to start

The FPT’s “Rookie Teams” division – Presented by Daiwa, provides the ideal place for those wishing to build their competitive angling skills, to do so in a in a large venue setting, at a low-cost, against anglers of equal “novice” experience.

Enrollment status as “Rookie Team” does not preclude a team from winning each events regular purses or prizes, and no additional fee is required.

It does however, award teams (each team member - in both regions) who capture their respective Daiwa Team Rookie of the Year titles, the following:

  1. A custom Daiwa Team “Rookie of the Year” trophy
  2. 2 Daiwa Tatula Rods and 2 Tatula Reels - (for each team member)
  3. 4 spools of Daiwa J-Braid line – (for each member)
  4. Paid membership and partial entry fees into the 2024 FPT season

PLUS....some “bragging” rights that will last a lifetime.

The qualification process is simple:

To qualify as “Rookie Team” you must:

  1. Have never fished as a team or as an individual in any organized circuit
  2. Declare your “Rookie Team” status - before the event begins
  3. Must have a full (not partial) FPT membership

The “Rookie Team” with the highest finishing point and the end of the 2023 season wins the title!

.

So, if you are ready to “dip your toes” into bass fishing’s competitive waters - and still have fun doing it...the time is now to get registered for the 2023 Future Pro Tour season and take your first step towards building your bass fishing skills!
